This Saturday, the short documentary film, MoveShake, premiered Shannon Galpin: A MoveShake Story on the big screen of Adventure Film Festival in Boulder. A story of determination of a life dedicated to raising the voices of women and girls in conflict zones like Afghanistan, and as her role as a mother of a seven-year-old daughter.
The film screened exactly three years since our founder’s epic series of mountain bike rides in Afghanistan’s Panjshir Valley, a ride that made her the first woman to mountain bike in the country.
Filmmaker, Alexandria Bombach, and Shannon were in Boulder for the screening and followed the film with a brief Q&A for the audience. The film won the award for best film in the Adventure through Activism category. Alexandria’s next project takes her to Afghanistan with Shannon this fall on a new film project about the power of voice through the stories of Afghan photographers.
